Island Guide

Tenerife - National Park - Golf - Beaches - Resorts

Tenerife is the most popular of the Canary Islands and enjoys a wonderful climate. The island has always been considered the ideal all year round resort, where the temperature remains warm and sunny both summer and winter with very high number of sunny days per year.  It has a wide climatic variation between the North and the South of the island being hot and dry in the south, yet with lush tropical vegetation in the cooler north and Spain's highest mountain "Pico del Teide" in the centre.

Tenerife caters for every type of holiday and has the variety of resorts and facilities to satisfy everyone.

The resorts of Playa de Las Americas, Playa del Duque, Calle Salvaje and farther up the west coast Los Gigantes, are lively vibrant resorts with and abundance of Restaurants, clubs and bars. Puerto de la Cruz and Los Cristianos are quieter and more popular with the older crowd wanting a little more sophistication and quieter evenings. There are some really top class attractions on the island and again theses are easily accessible from every resort.

The South of the island is considered the main tourist area with its high quality hotels, apartments, and villa’s. The climate, the wonderful long golden sandy beaches, the many types of water sports, and the small quiet secluded coves are all there to satisfy the sun worshiping tourists.  The restaurants and tapas bars, serve Canarian food, as well as the cuisine of most of the other Mediterranean countries.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife the capitol is very upbeat town geared for shopping and sightseeing. It’s a port of course servicing the needs of ferries, jetfoils and freighters to the island. As you would expect from a capital city it has all the shopping you would hope for, such as exclusive department stores, boutique fashion shops and many ethnic shops and markets.

The National Park which stands in the centre of the island is easily accessible from every resort and is a” must see” experience. Volcanic Lava fields, cable cars to the summit of the Volcano and the most wonderful and spectacular scenery you could ever hope to see…. a truly exhilarating experience. Take an organised excursion or better still drive yourself, the roads are excellent and the many picnic areas provide welcome rest breaks.
